A former employee of an adolescent treatment facility in Barboursville faces sexual abuse charges after coercing a resident, court records said.
Austin Lee Day, 26, faces charges after he allegedly intimidated one of the juvenile residents at Barboursville School for Adolescents along Martha Road to record sexually explicit photos and videos on his phone, according to a criminal complaint filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court.
The complaint said the incident happened while Day was a shift supervisor from December 2023 to July 2024 at the facility, and if the victim declined, Day would become angry.
The complaint was filed based on the victim’s forensic interview that was conducted by the Child Advocacy Center at Hoops Family Children’s Hospital.
Day is charged with sexual abuse by a parent or guardian.
