I'm proud to be part of the Eyewitness News Team! You can catch me anchoring Eyewitness News with Gina Marini at 5 & 6 p.m. and 10 & 11 p.m.
So, what about me? I'm from Kenova, W.Va. and graduated from Ceredo-Kenova High School. I earned my B.A. in Speech Broadcasting and a minor in Spanish at Marshall University. I landed my first job at KBIM TV in Roswell, New Mexico where I won First Place Investigative News and Best In Show for the Associated Press. The following 17 years were spent anchoring and reporting back home for NBC affiliate in Huntington, WV.
The most memorable story I've covered to date is the filming of "We Are Marshall." The story of the Marshall University plane crash hits home to many people in our region. Being able to interview the stars, the local people they portrayed and even the premieres in both Huntington and Hollywood was a great experience.
I live in West Huntington with my golden retriever "Libby" and cockatoo "Lucy." I enjoy traveling, cooking and spending time with family and friends. If you have any story ideas you'd like covered on Eyewitness News please e-mail me at dbbenton@sbgtv.com
