CRANSTON, R.I. (WJAR) — Jack Russell, the former lead singer for the rock band Great White, has died.
The announcement was posted on Russell's X account Thursday night.
Russell performed in New England in August 2015. It was the first appearance by him and his band in New England since the 2003 Station Nightclub fire in West Warwick.
One-hundred people were killed in the fire, with several hundreds hurt.
A member of Great White died in the blaze.
The band's pyrotechnics display sparked the fire, according to investigators, with the building quickly filling with smoke and people piling up at the main entrance as they tried to escape.
The band split into two groups following the fatal fire: "Great White" and "Jack Russell's Great White."
Russell announced his retirement in July due to health issues.
