POCA, W.Va. (WCHS) — Putnam County has planned a summertime festival next month, featuring riverfront activities, vendors, food and live music.
The inaugural Poca River Fest has been scheduled for Aug. 9-11 hosted by the Poca River Hunting, Fishing and Recreation Club.
The festivities kick off Friday, Aug. 9 with a Luau at Poca Plaza.
On Saturday, the Appalachian Boarding Company will be on site to lead a "Paddle da Poca." Homegrown talentMason Adkinsand Branson Tolliver are set to perform and fireworks will end the evening.
A church service will be held Sunday, complete with live gospel music.
Prior to the festival, community leaders will hold a cleanup party on Friday, Aug. 2 to be followed by the Miss Poca River Pageant on Aug. 3.
