After a summer featuring more than 40 days over 90-degrees, Mother Nature is giving us a nice reprieve this week.

Tuesday had an October feel with plentiful low clouds drifting from north to south following the wind flow.

Those clouds kept temperatures below 75 degrees in most locations with eastern West Virginia barely getting above 60.

Charleston only reached 72 degrees, our coolest afternoon since June 2.

It also marked the coolest August afternoon in more than a decade as Aug. 14, 2013 was recorded at 70 degrees.

These kind of temperatures are more typical of early to mid-October.

Clouds broke up Tuesday evening, setting the stage for a cool, crisp night that may challenge record lows, especially Charleston where the record is only 50.

Many of us will wake up in the upper 40s to 50 degrees at dawn with some patchy areas of fog.

With the clouds breaking out, many will catch a glimpse of the near-full moon.

If you're a fan of this weather enjoy it while it's here. We'll remain comfortable through Thursday with increasing sunshine as afternoon temps creep back to around 80 degrees.

With low humidity it will remain quite pleasant.

By the weekend, however, a strengthening ridge of high pressure over the East Coast will mean a return to 90-95 degree heat that will likely extend through most, if not all of next week.

In addition, it means very little in the way of any rain chances locally around here.
