A group of masked pro-Palestinian disruptors crashed a welcome event at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago Sunday.

Video circulating social media shows a disruptor rush the stage at a welcome event for delegates at Navy Pier. That individual grabbed a microphone and began calling for action from the crowd.

“150,000 people are dead,” the disruptor called. “You are furthering a genocide.”

Staff members then confiscated the microphone and escorted the disruptor off stage as calls of “free, free Palestine” rang out from the crowd.

Taking responsibility for the bold move was Direct Actions for Palestine, a Chicago-based advocacy group. It had previously called to “escalate” the convention for Gaza.

“FROM THE INSIDE AND OUT. the DNC CANNOT party while there is a GENOCIDE IN GAZA,” the group wrote. “WELCOME TO HELL WEEK.”

The group’s Instagram page links to a Telegram page titled “Shutdown the DNC.” That page includes video of a rally outside Navy Pier showing masked agitators chanting and carrying a sign addressing “Killer Kamala.”

In a statement to The National Desk Monday, the DNC said it will "respect the work to protect the right to free speech, while ensuring a safe convention for all participants."

Several delegates at the DNC have elected to become “uncommitted” in protest of the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of the ongoing war in Gaza.

"Vice President Harris supports the deals currently on the table for a permanent cease-fire in Gaza and for the release of hostages," Harris’s campaign said in a statement. "She will continue to meet with leaders from Palestinian, Muslim, Israeli and Jewish communities, as she has throughout her vice presidency."
