ELEANOR, W.Va. (WCHS) — The Putnam County Fair is underway and attendees will have to contend with high temperatures to enjoy the festivities.
Fair board members always expect heat in July and have implemented measures to keep visitors cool.
Misters and fans have been placed inside entertainment and livestock areas and a mobile medical unit with air conditioning remains on site.
Event organizers do not expect the heat to affect attendance
"People come out and they prepare for it," fair board director David Bailey told Eyewitness News. "They stay hydrated. Occasionally we’ll have a few heat-related emergencies but people come prepared. They know how hot it is.”
Putnam County EMS are at the ready for any heat-related emergencies.
The fair runs through Saturday. For more information, including a full schedule of events, visit the fair webpage or look for updates on social media.
