A premier West Virginia trail system has expanded into Kanawha County, catering to dirt bikes and e-bikes.

The Tornado Single Trax, an extension of the Hatfield-McCoy Trails, boasts 35 miles of ridge-running for riders on two wheels.

Riders can find the trailhead at 7900 Smith Creek Road in Tornado while permits, gear, restrooms and information may be found at the Coal River Group Welcome Center, located at 181 Pettigrew Lane in St. Albans.

“It’s the largest, single, dedicated dirt bike trail system east of the Mississippi. It’s going to be right here in our backyard.” Kanawha County Commission President Lance Wheeler told Eyewitness News. “We’re very exited about this. For decades, we’ve talked about how to get Hatfield-McCoy and all that economic opportunity here to Kanawha County.”

A grand opening for the new track will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 10 a.m.
