BUFFALO, W.Va. (WCHS) — An auto manufacturing facility in Putnam County announced Thursday it will use more than $300 million in investments to rev up production for hybrid vehicle components.
Toyota West Virginia, located in Buffalo, will begin production for a fifth-generation hybrid transaxle to power new Camry and Corolla Cross models, according to a news release from the manufacturer.
The news release said the milestone marks the company's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and providing long-term stability for employees in the United States.
Company officials said more than $19.7 billion has been invested into electrification efforts since 2021.
Toyota noted the Buffalo plant is the only facility in North America selected to build the new transaxles.
